I was particularly interested in the history of the breed and how it has evolved over the years. She also goes through in detail how to care for your Golden Retriever on a daily basis and the pitfalls of not being consistent with care and grooming. I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting more information on the breed or anyone trying to decide which breed to adopt as a pet. Definitely worth a read.Product details

This book is very informative. It reminds you to have patience and to reward positive actions instead of reacting to your pups bad actions. It's hard to do and for me it's good to have a reminder!
Pretty basic information. There wasn't a whole lot of "meat" in the training section. But, overall, a good general book about Goldens and how to train them.
A good short read and to the point. A lot of good, practical info for a new puppy. I'm having my ten year old read it to so he's also familiar with how the train the new pup.
I found the book contained many sensible training techniques and grooming tips. I like the fact that she uses positive reinforcement as opposed to punishment with her techniques. A good book to use as a reference as the subjects are easy to find.
This book proves good things come in small packages. Remarkably, this book manages to cover every relevant topic related to
raising your Golden, from crate training, loose leash training, socialization, grooming, feeding, exercise,etc, all contained in about 60 pages. Our Golden will be arriving in about 2 weeks and this will be my go-to reference book.
Good book for new dog owners. But, if you are looking for in depth detail on the Golden Retrievers, as I was, look elsewhere. This is basic dog training with a few. Details on Goldens, IMHO.
I wished I had a similar book handy when I just got my pug, though I found a lot of information here that applies to dogs in general, not just specific to the breed. This book tells you everything you need to know about golden retrievers, from history, common health problems, grooming, training, and even tips for common behavioral problems. If you are looking into adopting or getting a golden retriever, read this book, get to know your dog, and be prepared to become an excellent parent to your four legged baby!
