I hate having to give this a 3 star .... for the most part the characters are great ... Lucas is an awesome guy and Aiden is beyond adorable. Fallon however, completely ruins the book ... She is probably the worst Heroine I have ever read ... That woman is god-awful.Selfish, self centered, bit***, rude, obnoxious and paranoid. its not cute, its not attractive and there is no way any man would stick around for that kind of complete and utter crap. That character absolutely ruins this story. She even goes as far as finding out he didn't do what she thought and STILL treats him like dirt under her feet .... She gives all women a bad name. This would be a 5 star read if Fallon gets a revamped personality .....

Trying to Score An Assassins Novel The Assassins Series Book 2 edition by Toni Aleo Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
Sigh, so I was a bit concerned in the prologue when kissing a random girl drove this guy to decide she was "the one"... It was also concerning when the female lead wants to sophisticate hockey and open a wine cellar at an NHL ice rink. I tried to give this more of a chance but it just hasn't improved from that, dnf it is.
The author portrayed the h so poorly, I simply could not read the novel in it's entirety. Ms. Aleo depicted her h as a narcissist and a liar, with a severe anger management/rage problem. Even though Lucas/Aiden were everything you could ask for in a boyfriend and/or baby daddy/son, Fallon's lapse of character and morals were never allowed to mature.
When I read romance novels such as this, I always wonder what process/experience the author drew on to create a character not just unlikable, but with serious mental health issues.
I have no desire to read anything by this author again.
For years Fallon Parker has dreamed of taking her families winery to places they never thought possible and now with a deal on the table with the Assassins Hockey team that dream of hers may very well become a reality. If she lands this deal maybe her father will finally see that she knows what she is doing, and she can handle whatever life throws at her. But she didn't anticipate for life to throw her on the path that is about to lead her staring face to face with her past...
Lucas Brooks has battled some serious demons lately and came out on the winning side of them, but life is about to throw him into a battle that he isn't so sure he can win. When he finds himself being traded to the Assassins he is bummed about leaving his teammates behind, but he knows this opportunity might be just what he needs to keep himself moving full steam ahead on the straight and narrow. And full steam ahead to the woman he stupidly let slip through his fingers...
This sexy little story pulled me in almost immediately and had me burning right through the pages, it was so addictive!! I am a sucker for a well written sports romance, especially when it comes with a sexy hockey player at the helm, and Ms. Aleo's Trying To Score definitely hit the spot! It was packed with edge or your seat intensity, passion, steamy romance, heartfelt emotion, and took me on one spectacular literary ride!! If you like second chance romance, and sexy, smooth talking hockey players then I recommend you check out this one, it's sure to score some serious points!!
In book two of the Assassins series we once again get a male lead who is over the top in love and a female lead with issues. I’m beginning to think Toni Aleo has issues with strong women. Both the female leads from books one and two are strong, independent women with great business skills but lacking in self confidence in the personal side of their lives. In this book Fallon, the female MC, is shrewish, selfish and self-centered. While some of her attitude is understandable it’s just a bit over the top enough to be unreasonable. It makes the book hard to read because she is just so unlikeable (though not quite as bad as some other reviews have stated!) Lucas is a recovering alcohol and drug addict who blew his first chance with Fallon and now, after being traded to the Assassins, wants Fallon back.
The big crisis is easy to see coming (both parts of it) and it’s a bit far fetched the Lucas wouldn’t have figured part of it out earlier. The book is dragged out a bit too long and there are some unresolved issues that don’t make a lot of sense and I’m not sure why they were included.
I like the series overall but am heading into book 3 wondering is another unreasonable female is in store for me.
